In the big RFID world, active tags have battery power supply, this distinguish them from the passive tags. This power supply is necessary for the data transmission which has not to come from the readers, as on the passive tags: this means that the necessary power for transmissions from readers to tags is much lower than in passive reading, even with the same transmission’s frequency.
